The Route

“Kruger to Canyons” is a regional term, initially coined by the UNESCO registered Kruger to Canyons Biosphere Region and can refer to the large region lying between (and including) the Kruger National Park and the Blyde River Canyon, the Olifants and Sabi River Gorge’s (poetic license giving rise to the referral of them as canyons and thus the plural is used)

The K2C cycle Tour takes you an a route that is unparalleled in uniqueness and adventure.   It starts on the border of the Kruger National Park and takes you through Timbavati, Thornybush and Kapama Private Nature Reserves and onto the Blue Canyon Conservancy exiting onto the final road that sweeps one into the incredible Blyde River Canyon.

The start of the route introduces you to typical Lowveld wilderness with sweeping savanna’s, Riverine bush and Thornveld thickets - all home to an array of Africa’s wildlife including the illustrious Big 5 (Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo).

As your day’s cycling continues you start heading towards the incredible escarpment of the Northern Drakensberg Mountains, its colourful escaprment faces and the scenic mouth of the Blyde River Canyon.

This is an inaugural achievement that such an event has been established covering these major reserves and is bound to be a remarkable experience and truly a privilege to aspire to.

The Unique Environment

This is the first time ever that the private reserves in the Lowveld have come together to approve a trans-traverse of their properties as well as being the first time that a cycling event has been allowed on most of these reserves.    There is currently no other cycling event in South Africa that can rival what the K2C Cycle Tour can offer.

From the excitement of Big 5, to the coming together and cooperation of neighbouring reserves, this route also links together 2 of South Africa’s natural jewels from the World Famous Kruger National Park to the Famed, Blyde River Canyon - the third largest and the greenest canyon in the world..

This route truly brings to you a unique opportunity and a privilege that you deserve to bestow upon yourself.
